2026 Pesticide Exam Schedule is Now Available!

Private Applicators Recertification/Safety Classes (2 hours V)
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service invites all private applicators whose license expires in 2026 to attend one of four Private Applicator Pesticide Recertification/Safety classes. These two-hour classes will be held on the following dates:
Thursday, January 22, 2026, beginning at 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Thursday, January 29, 2026, beginning at 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, February 12, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 10, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The classes will be at the Johnston County Agricultural Center located at 2736 NC Highway 210, Smithfield. Applicators are reminded that their license expires at the end of the year, but all recertification credits must be obtained before September 30 of the year the license expires. Applicators are asked to bring their Pesticide Credit Report Card with the barcode to scan along with them to class. Please call Tim Britton at (919) 989-5380 to check credits.

Tobacco Production and GAP Meeting
Wednesday, January 7, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension in Johnston County will host a Tobacco Production and GAP meeting on Friday, January 7th, 2026. Please arrive at 8:30 a.m. to check in, acquire materials, and find a seat.
The meeting will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will end with lunch. Speakers for the meeting will be Dr. Ramsey Lewis, NCSU Tobacco Breeder, and Dr. Daisy Ahumada, NCSU Plant Pathologist. Additionally, there will be speakers on labor topics and Amy Rochkes from GAP Connections. Please note that this will be an area meeting with potential attendees from surrounding counties.
The meeting will be held at the Johnston County Agricultural Center. If you cannot attend this meeting, a complete list of GAP meetings can be found at www.gapconnections.com. Pesticide credits will be offered. Pre-registration is required. If you would like to attend, please call the Johnston County Agricultural Center at 919-989-5380 to register.

Fumigation Recertification Training
Wednesday, January 7, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Fumigation recertification will be on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, immediately following the Tobacco Production GAP meeting. Growers must attend a fumigation recertification training based on the fumigation labels every three years. The NCDA&CS has linked this recertification with your License Renewal Date. If you have the fumigation category on your license, it will appear on your card as V X Z (SF).

Annual FIT Testing

 Wednesday, January 28, 2026, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
Annual fit testing will be on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. NC Agromedicine charges $55 per person for the fit testing and medical clearance. Just the fit testing will cost $30. Payment will be collected at the time of the test.
There were some issues with seals in the past. Please check seals by doing a seal test before coming in. Bring your respirator and ensure you are clean-shaven. You can obtain medical clearance at www.respexam.com or your local doctor’s office. NC Agromedicine will be able to provide medical clearances if needed.

Small Grain, Corn & Grain Sorghum Meeting  (2 hours NODX)
Thursday, January 22, 2026, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service in Johnston County is inviting all growers to a corn and small grain production meeting on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026. The meeting will be held at the Johnston County Agricultural Center. Pesticide and CCA credits will be offered. Registration is required. Please call (919) 989-5380 to register.

Regional Soybean School (2 hours NODX)
Thursday, January 29, 2026, 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service invites all growers to attend a Regional Soybean School on Thursday, January 29th, 2026, from 5:00–8:30 p.m. The meeting will be at the Johnston County Ag Center. This meeting allows specialists to cover thoroughly the soybean issues affecting growers in our region. Pesticide credits and CCA credits will be offered. Pre-registration is required. Regional Peanut Production Meeting (2 hours NODX)
Friday, February 13, 2026 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service in Johnston, Wilson, Wayne, Harnett, and Greene counties invites all growers to attend the Regional Peanut Production meeting on Friday, February 13, 2026, at noon. The meeting will be held at the West Farm at 1365 NC 222 East, Fremont, NC 27830. This will be about 2 miles east of Fremont. Peanut varieties, insect, disease management, and weed control will be discussed. A sponsored meal will be served. Pre-registration is required for the meeting. To register, call (919) 731-1521

Regional Cotton Production Meeting (2 hours NODX)
Friday, February 20, 2026  8:30 a.m.  – 10:30 a.m.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service in Johnston, Sampson, Cumberland, and Harnett counties invites all growers to attend the cotton production meeting on Friday, February 20th, 2026. The meeting will be at the Sampson
County Expo Center, 414 Warsaw Road in Clinton, at 8:30 a.m. Cotton varieties and management, insect management, and weed control will be discussed. Pre-registration is required. Please register by calling 910-592-7161

Paraquat Training ( 1-hour NODX)
Thursday, February 26, 2026 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service invites pesticide applicators to attend Paraquat pesticide training on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Johnston County Agricultural Center. Pre-registration is NOT required.

Interactive Pesticide Training (2 hours all except V) 
Friday, March 27, 2026 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service in Johnston County invites all commercial and private applicators, dealers, consultants, and public ground operators to attend an Interactive Pesticide Training class.
This two-hour class will be held at the Johnston County Livestock Arena on Friday, March 27, 2026. The arena is located at 520 County Home Road in Smithfield. The class will begin at 10 a.m.

Please bring your Pesticide Credit Report Card with barcode to class.Please call 919-989-5380 to register or to speak with Tim Britton for more information about the credits to be offered.


2026 Spring Pesticide School 

Tuesday – Wednesday May 5th and 6th, 2026

The school will be offered on May 5th and 6th, and there will be an exam on May 6th at 1:00 p.m. You must register for school online or by calling 919-515-3113. To register for the Exam only call 919- 733-3556.

2026 NC Commodity Conference

January 14-15, 2026

You are invited to attend the 36th Annual NC Commodities Conference of NC Small Grains, Soybeans, Corn & Cotton Producers Associations, an informative and educational conference dedicated to discussing the challenges of farming in the 21st Century. Come along and find out the latest trends and technologies and hear from some of the leading figures in the industry today.

Southern Farm Show
February 4 – 6, 2026, NC State Fairgrounds

Over four hundred exhibiting companies make the Southern Farm Show the largest agricultural exposition in the Carolinas and Virginia. A tradition at the NC State Fairgrounds each February, the show hosts key industry events and is known as the region’s annual meeting place for farmers and agricultural leaders.

Free admission and parking make the show a can’t- miss for farmers and allied professionals, including landscapers and excavation contractors.

2026 Pesticide Exam Schedule – Wake County

Please be advised that the pesticide exams that were scheduled in Johnston County on January 14, 2026 & October 14, 2026, have been moved to Wake County. 

The North Carolina Pesticide exams will be offered on Wednesday, January 14th, and October 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the 4400 Reedy Creek Rd. Raleigh, NC 27607.
