This event has been moved to the planned rain date-January 29 at 3 pm.

Johnston County Cooperative Extension invites interested parties to attend an afternoon demonstration of grazing stockpiled tall fescue with cattle. While fescue is not adapted to most areas of Johnston County, this is a particular field that maintains fescue fairly well. The field was cut for hay in late summer, then fertilizer was applied and the animals were excluded from the field until this month. The cattle are being strip to get the most efficient use of the available forage. This event will allow for demonstration of grazing techniques and equipment, discussion of cattle nutritional needs and much more.

Due to COVID-19, attendance is limited to 25 total individuals. In order to ensure the event does not exceed gathering restrictions, the exact location will only be disclosed to those who register. An email with the location and parking instructions will be sent the day before the event.

Safety measures will be in place for this event. The event will be completely outdoors, and guests will be asked to wear masks, especially at times that a six-foot distance cannot be maintained from others. Anyone who has the following symptoms on the day of the event will be asked not to attend; fever or chills, unexplained cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, new loss of taste or smell, headache, muscle or body aches, sore throat, congestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or other symptoms associated with COVID-19. If you do not have a face covering, disposable masks will be available. There are no facilities available at the site, so hand-washing will not be possible. Hand sanitizer will be available.
