It is time for our annual association membership meeting. The meeting will be held January 29, 2019 in the auditorium at the Johnston County Agriculture Building. The meeting will begin at 6:30 with a sponsored dinner of fried flounder and chicken from Barefoot’s Country Store and Grill.
As in the past, there will be an educational program, and we will have updates from Soil and Water Conservation and FSA. Our featured speaker will be Logan Svanovec. Logan is a ProStaff member with Weaver Leather Livestock. He will be joining us by FaceTime on the big screen from State College, PA and discussing the ins and outs of selecting and using various clipper blades. Weaver Leather will provide their Winners Brand catalogs for folks attending the meeting. This should be a very informative program for those involved in fitting and clipping goats for shows.
Our Producer Profile will be presented by Blake Thompson of TNT Livestock in Smithfield.
As required by the by-laws, we will also be holding elections for new officers and directors.
Remember that the association is only as strong as its membership. I encourage you to pay your annual dues to help further the work of the organization. Dues are $10/person or family per year and will be payable at the meeting. I encourage you to come and bring a fellow goat producer. Please reserve a space for the meal by emailing dgwells@ncsu.edu or by calling the Johnston County Extension Office (919) 989-5380 no later than Friday, January 25th.
