The new year brings new opportunities and new classes at Bullington. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the next several months:

Self-Care Products from the Hive: Feb. 7, 3–5 p.m.

Learn how to make your own self-care products such as lip balm, lotion, salves and sugar scrubs using beeswax and other all natural ingredients. Bullington Gardener Kelsey Jarvis and local beekeeper Patrice German will lead this class. Register by Feb. 5, 5 p.m. $50. Limited to 12.

Pruning Seminar: Feb. 22, 1–2:30 p.m.

Learn when and how to properly prune ornamental trees and shrubs with Bullington’s John Murphy. $15

Growing Blueberries in the Home Garden: Feb. 28, 3–4:30 p.m.

Successfully grow and harvest tasty blueberries in your own home garden. Area Extension Specialized Agent Craig Mauney will share practices on getting blueberries established and growing, pruning, pest problems and which are the best varieties for our area. $14

Vegetable Gardening Basics: Mar. 13-14, 3:30–5 p.m.

Learn gardening basics on how to improve soil, composting, what and when to plant, pest control measures and other techniques to get your vegetable garden off to a great start in this 3-day program. Led by John Murphy. $35.

Viburnums-Demure Shrubs for All Seasons: Mar. 21, 3–4:30 p.m.

Join Landscape Designer Nancy Duffy of Muddy Boots Garden Design and learn about the surprising variety of viburnums and their elegant contribution to our gardens. $14

Seed Starting Basics: Apr.2, 4–5:30 p.m.

John Murphy of Bullington Gardens will demonstrate and discuss ways to successfully sow seeds both indoors as well as directly in the garden. Topics to be covered will include seed dormancy, best media, containers, and considerations for growing inside. $14
