As part of a Countywide 4-H Community Service Initiative, Johnston County 4-H Clubs, Johnston County FFA Chapters and the Johnston County Farm City Week Committee are collecting items to support the Backpack Buddies program locally.

This Program provides easy open, ready to eat food to needy Johnston County youth when they are not in school. Donations will be taken to 2 schools in the county who demonstrate the most need.

Johnston County 4-H Clubs and FFA Chapters are in competition to see who can collect the most pounds of food. This program will run from

October 1 until November 14, 2018. Those who are invited to the Farm City Week Banquet can bring their items on November 19th.
We need your help to make this effort a success because one person CAN make a difference. Please see the flyer below for a list of acceptable items.
Items can be brought to the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Johnston County office at 2736 NC 210 Hwy, Smithfield or pick up can be arranged for large donations.

4-H Club Members bringing items to the Extension office should have their bag/box labeled for weight identification in the competition.
