The Family and Consumer Sciences Program offers food-based education in the areas of food safety, nutrition, and health and wellness. There will be a Safe Plates Course and Exam offered in October at the Johnston County Agriculture Center. Safe Plates prepares managers for American National Standards Institution (ANSI) approved Food Protection Manager Certification and is offered by NC State Extension.

Managers who successfully complete the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Certification Exam meet the FDA Food Code 2013 requirement for a Certified Food Protection Manager.

For more information or to register, see the Safe Plates Registration form. Registration and payment is due by September 28 at 5 p.m.

Contact Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Cassidy Hobbs, for more information at 919-989-5380 or cdhobbs3@ncsu.edu.
