4-H Presentations, a Winning Tradition

Johnston County 4-H WinnersOn June 22 at Lenoir Community College, 25 Johnston County 4-H’ers competed at District Presentations. At the end of the day the medal count was 24 for these veteran and new presenters. Two youth presented in 4-H Entertains, which is a talent showcase. Four more participated in the non-competitive 7-8-year-old Cloverbud Division. There were 164 presenters from 18 counties in attendance. Presentations allow youth to talk about, or demonstrate information which they are interested in, or have worked on through 4-H clubs or other activities. They develop organization and communication skills by doing presentations.

Receiving medals in the 14–18-year-old division were: Seth Young of Smithfield, Gold in Beef Char-Grill, Leah Jackson of Benson, Gold in Citizenship/Community Service, Olive Little or Angier, Silver in Careers and Entrepreneurship, Chloe Allen of Garner, Bronze in Citizenship/Community Service, Lilly McLamb of Four Oaks, Silver in Horse, Nicole Worth of Selma, Gold in Horse, Emily Worth of Selma, Gold in Horse Public Speaking, David Young of Smithfield, Gold in Hospitality, Etiquette & Social Graces, Adrianna Little of Angier, Gold in Poultry Production, Madison Rosenbaum of Clayton, Silver in Small & Companion Animals, Lillie Anderson of Clayton, Bronze in Small & Companion Animals.

Those receiving medals in the 11–13-year-old division were: Shelby Anderson of Clayton, Gold in Citizenship & Community Service, Raegan Shepherd of Clayton, Bronze in Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Becca Jackson on Benson, Silver in Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Kyra Worth of Selma, Gold in Horse, Susannah Young of Smithfield, Bronze in Hospitality, Etiquette & Social Graces, Savannah Little of Angier, Silver in Hospitality, Etiquette & Social Graces, Annabelle Brewster of Garner, Silver in Small & Companion Animals, Georgia Braundel of Clayton, Gold in Small & Companion Animals.

In the 9–10-year-old division, Carolin Coats of Bentonville, Gold in Family & Consumer Sciences, Mason Rosenbaum of Clayton, Gold in Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Julia Cunnius of Benson, Gold in Forestry & Wildlife, Kaylee Johnson of Four Oaks, Gold in Open Class, Darcy Dean of Clayton, Gold in Poultry Production.

McKenzie Gross of Smithfield and Chloe Allen of Garner both participated in the 4-H Entertains program. John Dean of Clayton, Cassie Jackson of Benson, Lillian Chadwick of Smithfield and John Brewster of Garner  received participation ribbons for the Cloverbud 7 – 8 category.
