4-H’ers Bring Home District Honors

On May 14th at Lenoir Community College 20 Johnston County 4-H’ers competed at District Presentations. Two youth presented in 4-H Entertains, which is a talent showcase. Two more participated in the non-competitive 7-8 year old Cloverbud Division. There were 182 presenters from 18 counties in attendance. Presentations allow youth to talk about, or demonstrate information which they are interested in, or have worked on through 4-H clubs or other activities. They develop organization and communication skills by doing presentations.

Receiving medals in the 14 – 18 year old division were: Cecilia Fricke of Middlesex, Bronze in Arts & Communication, Austin Little of Angier, Gold in Beef Char Grill, Grayson Barefoot of Willow Spring, Gold in Bugs & Bees, Adrianna Little of Angier, Gold in Chicken BBQ, Dylan Schexnayder of Garner, Gold in Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Travis Anderson, of Four Oaks, Gold in Livestock & Dairy Production, Nicole Worth of Selma, Silver in Open Class and Sarah Allen of Four Oaks, Gold in Safety.

Those receiving medals in the 11 – 13 year old division were: Olivia Schexnayder of Garner, Gold in Bugs & Bees, Madeline Little of Angier, Gold in Chicken BBQ, Chloe Allen of Garner, Gold in Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Kyra Worth of Selma, Silver in Horse, Madison Rosenbaum and Reagan Shepherd won Gold for their team presentation in Horse.

In the 9 – 10 year old division, Savannah Little of Angier won Gold in Family & Consumer Sciences.

McKenzie Gross of Smithfield and Fiona Hocutt of Zebulon both participated in the 4-H Entertains program and each received blue ribbons for their singing performance. Mariah Redmon of Smithfield and Kale Phipps of Smithfield received participation ribbons for the Cloverbud 7 – 8 category.
