Coming Soon! Heritage Quilt Show
The Annual Heritage Quilt show is scheduled to open on Thursday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Johnston County Agricultural Center with a special dedication. A display of quilts made for veterans at the VA Hospice in Durham will be highlighted. In collaboration with the American Legion Auxiliary, and a grant from the Extension and Community Foundation, the quilters have made quilts in patriotic colors to be will be used in the Hospice unit. At the passing of the veteran, the quilt is given to the family.
In it’s eight year, the show will feature quilts made for service projects by the Jo Co Quilters. In addition, members of the Johnston County Extension & Community Association will share quilts from their own personal collections for the show. Lap quilts for children at the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital (Vidant Health) in Greenville, NC will be displayed
To help support future service projects, there will be a Lap Blanket Raffle; four lucky tickets will be chosen to receive a blanket made by Jo Co Quilters. Tickets are $1.00 each and can be purchased at the event, or from ECA members or Jayne McBurney. A Swap Meet of gently used craft and quilt related items, unused kits, swatches, tools and notions will be available for purchase.
The event will take place on Thursday from 1:00 p.m., – 7:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
