“On January 22, 2015, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will host a new webinar, “Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) 102 – Audit Preparation.” Developed for the small farming communities, this informative webinar will provide the latest information on how to develop and prepare for a GAP audit. The AMS Specialty Crops Inspection Division staff is dedicated to reaching out to farmers who need information on these food safety audits, which are crucial in meeting the demands of retailers and other buyers.

There is room for 500 webinar participants, and while the webinar is focused on the StrikeForce areas, all are welcome to participate. The attached flyer details the webinar and the registration process.

A computer with high speed internet connectivity is required to participate. We realize that high speed connections are not available in some rural areas, and this poses a challenge for many farmers to participate. Therefore, local USDA personnel and county extension agents are encouraged to invite interested farmers and facilitate the GAP 102 webinar at field offices. If you are able to host a group event, let us know so we can recognize you.

In addition, an introductory GAP 101 webinar was given in March 2014. This webinar provides the foundation for the GAP 102 presentation.

We request the support of our USDA field offices and Extension personnel in helping us promote this webinar and host viewing sessions in all the StrikeForce areas. For more information or assistance, please contact me at john.lund@ams.usda.gov, or Chris Purdy at Christopher.Purdy@ams.usda.gov or (202) 720-9939. We look forward to working with you on providing this valuable information to fruit and vegetable farmers in your area.
