Johnston County Livestock Mutual established an endowment in 1999 to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors that have participated in the Johnston County Youth Livestock Program. Norman Denning, Sr. is a member of Livestock Mutual and has been chair of the endowment committee since 1999.  Due to his many years of dedicated service to the people of Johnston County as a livestock breeder, agriculture advocate, and Johnston County Commissioner, the Johnston County Livestock Mutual Board is re-naming the scholarship the Norman C. Denning, Sr. and Jean R. Denning Scholarship.  It has been Mr. Denning’s hope to see the endowment grow in order to assist more youth.  Since the inception of the endowment, 17 youth have received scholarships totaling $8500.  The re-signing ceremony will occur at the 2012 Johnston County Youth Livestock Festival on November 16th at the Johnston County Livestock Arena.  For those that know Mr. and Mrs. Norman Denning, Sr. and would like to be present when they are honored, please make your plans to attend. The serving line will be open from 5 to 8 pm with the signing ceremony at 6 pm. A more thorough history of Mr. Denning’s accomplishments can be found here. If you would like to contribute to help support the Norman C. Denning, Sr. and Jean R. Denning Scholarship, contribution forms can be found here.
